Video Editor

A desktop video editing tool built into Yeero Desktop: jump straight in when a screen recording finishes, or open any local video. Multi-track timeline, 7 transitions, filters and color grading, text and subtitles, audio tools and AI-powered Smart Trim — record, edit, publish.

Overview

The video editor runs in its own window, with three areas:

• Preview — live playback with fullscreen, fit-to-screen and A-B loop
• Timeline — video, annotation, audio and music tracks side by side, with thumbnails and waveforms; scroll-wheel zoom and adjustable track height
• Properties panel — select a clip or annotation to tune every parameter here

A few notes on video formats:

• Editing is based on H.264-encoded MP4; videos with other codecs are automatically transcoded to H.264 so they play and edit normally
• On the first transcode or export, video processing tools (ffmpeg) are downloaded automatically — a one-time wait
• Closing the window or opening a new video with unexported changes triggers a confirmation dialog, so work is never lost by accident

Opening Videos

• After a recording — when screen recording finishes, choose "Open in Video Editor" and the recording loads directly
• From the menu — click "Open video" to pick a local file, or "Open in New Window" to work on several videos in parallel
• Drag & drop — drop a video file onto the editor window
• Launcher — type or paste a video file path in the Launcher and press Enter

Timeline Editing

The timeline is the heart of editing. Every video clip shows thumbnails, and you can:

• Split — press S to split the clip at the playhead
• Delete / ripple delete — Delete leaves a gap; Shift+Delete ripple-deletes and later clips shift forward to fill it
• Trim — drag the trim handles on the clip edges to cut off unwanted heads and tails
• Speed — select a clip and adjust playback speed in the properties panel, including custom multipliers; the clip duration updates with the speed
• In / Out points — press I / O to mark a range, X to clear it, Ctrl+Delete to delete the range
• Copy clips — duplicate sections by copying and pasting

For the view: Ctrl+↑ / Ctrl+↓ zoom the timeline, Ctrl+0 fits the whole timeline, and the scroll wheel zooms too; dragging clips snaps them to adjacent clip edges.

Transitions

Add a transition between adjacent clips for smoother cuts. Seven built-in transitions:

Transition duration is adjustable from 0.1 to 3.0 seconds, defaulting to 0.5s.

Filters & Color Grading

• Filters — Film, Vintage, Fresh, Cinema, Warm, Cool and B&W, plus "Original" to revert instantly
• Color grading — fine-tune brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, tint, exposure, highlights and shadows, with one-click reset

Text & Subtitles

• Add text — place text layers on the overlay track; adjust font, size, weight, color, opacity, stroke and shadow, with free horizontal / vertical alignment
• Text templates — built-in layouts such as Vlog Title, applied in one click
• Text animation — Typewriter, Fade In, Bounce and Slide Up entrances
• Subtitles — import subtitle files or generate auto subtitles

Video Annotations

The same 9 annotation tools as the image editor (Select, Rectangle, Ellipse, Arrow, Line, Brush, Highlight, Mosaic, Text) — the difference is that every annotation carries a time range: set an in point and an out point, and the annotation only appears during that span, perfect for "circle the broken button at 0:03" walkthroughs. Annotations live on a dedicated annotation track whose timing is adjustable right on the timeline.

Audio

• Original audio — the video's audio appears on the audio track (with waveform) and can be split, copied and deleted
• Volume control — per-clip volume and mute / unmute, plus a global master volume
• Fade in / out — add fade-in and fade-out to any audio clip
• Separate audio — detach the video's audio into an independent clip
• Background music — a dedicated music track for adding local audio files as BGM

Smart Trim

Don't want to scrub frame by frame? Smart Trim analyzes the whole video and flags redundant segments:

• Static — segments where the picture barely changes
• Silent — long stretches with no sound
• Duplicate — repeated content

The results list each segment with its type and duration. Choose an action per segment — Cut, Speedup or Ignore — or Confirm All / Ignore All. The panel shows the time you'll save in real time, and clicking any segment jumps the preview there. When you're happy, hit "Apply Cuts" and all redundant segments leave the timeline at once.

Exporting

Press Ctrl+E or click "Export" to open the export dialog:

• Export preset — pick a ready-made combination
• Resolution — keep the original or pick a target resolution
• Frame rate & format — adjust as needed
• Output path — choose where to save

Export shows live progress, and once complete you can reveal the file in your file manager. Additionally, Ctrl+Shift+F captures the current frame to the clipboard anytime — handy for sharing a frame in chat.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Press Shift+? inside the editor to bring up the shortcuts panel anytime.
